      Here some documents apparently belonging to a Mongolian Hero (General Dorj) - documents supposedly intended to keep track of the money the receiver gets each month.

      While my collection does not focus on Dutch orders/medals (my focus is Mongolia, Albania and a few others), I did want to get something Dutch in my collection and I'm pleased with what Santa brought me for Christmas: a second half of 19th century Military Willems Orde 4th class with original ribbon and cased with reference to M.J. Goudsmit as the manufacturer. Appreciate any comments/corrections.

      A small documented group that belonged to Lt. Colonel Lhagva Dashzeveg. Included in the group are: 1. Badge of the Honorary Chekist with the booklet. The badge was awarded on July 8, 1982 and is serial numbered 575. As is common for later Chekist badges, the serial number of the badge is not entered in the booklet. The booklet is hand signed by the Minister of Public Security of MPR Colonel General Luvsangombo. The threading of the screw is very well preserved and the original screwplate is tightly fixed. 2. Still coming in the mail but belonging to the same group: order of the Polar Star of MPR with serial number 11587. Awarded on December 31, 1965. The serial number of the order is entered in the Order Booklet as well as the date. However, the names of most of the awards (apparently the Order of Polar Star, Order of Combat Valor and the Order of Red Banner of Combat Valor) were not stamped. Yet, the name of the Medal of 40th anniversary of revolution is stamped. The booklet has a chest photo of Dashzeveg in his early career years. Unfortunately, Dashzeveg's awards were sold to different dealers and only these two came my way. In a nutshell, Dashzeveg devoted his whole life to the intelligence service. He has served at different intelligence departments for 37 years. Dashzeveg was a core intelligence service officer whose cadres were much smaller compared to Border Guards and Police. He started his career at the central HQ in 1949, continued at the local intelligence unit in Bayanhongor province, transferred to technical (eavesdropping) division, continued at the signals division, etc. More details to come later.

      I managed to find the Dekorimet book online and for a wonderful price so finally got my copy. Appears to be a wonderful source of information although challenging for non-Albanian speakers such as myself.

      Yep, that is all i was able to find with google as well. I am not at home but in a couple of days will be and will then do a search in the 3piece fairly exhaustive history booms of albania which i have. There is one hint in red on the document but my albanian is a bit 'rusty' - perhaps a native speaker can help : educational instructor kruje?

      Something very rare... An order of skanderbeg award document from 1930, framed, awarded to Italian "Giulio Folegatti" and signed by King Zog... Will be digging into my albania book collection to try to find out more about him! without the actual award

"Dutch military personnel in an Albanian hornets nest - 1913-1914, chronicles of a precarious peace keeping mission" The book is in Dutch and has 10 years of research in Dutch archives and chronicles in detail the individual 'biographies' of every Dutch peace keeper in Albania (incl e.g. Thomson, de Veer, etc.) - 1000 pages covering a half a year of Dutch involvement and with tons of photographs. I have ordered the book and look forward to reviewing it once I receive it!

      It certainly looks interesting... Good on some aspects but raising question marks on others when comparing to other known examples with high numbers incl. A cased one posted here on gmic from an unquestionably reliable source

      boysodo is active on ebay again: 1) I won a government certificate auction for close to 15 USD, paid via paypal and expected it to be shipped. What did he do: cancel the listing and then sent me a message that after all he only wanted to sell it for at least 150 USD. Sellers remorse... I placed the bid on purpose to get a reason to report him to ebay and he fell for it. Hopefully they'll shut him down. 2) He is also listing a fake Mongolian KGB badge. His paypal account is using lallyjo@comcast.net as an email address with the (fake) John Lally name. The real person behind it is Mongolian. Be aware that this guy is a fraud.

      Some lots went to New Jersey... collectrussia is now posting the Hero Star for 49k USD (auction was at 17k GBP if not mistaken excl. fees) and the Vajra for a little over 7k like flipping real estate a couple of years ago... good luck to him...

      No further info unfortunately but no doubt that he received many other awards (aside from achievements, he clearly was relatively high up plus appears to have had a long career).

      I underbid on the hero star recently sold at the Morton & Eden auction. 12k GBP (excl. fees for the auction house) was not an unfair price but more than I was willing to spend.

      A small but interesting group related to Bunduu Natsagdorj who headed the protocol department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of MPR from 1974-1990. Attached are scans of the (incomplete) group and scans of table listing his full name and years (underlined) of directorship of the protocol department (Centenary history of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia 1911-2011). He has been the main person responsible for the state and diplomatic protocol preparations during the visits of Brezhnev, Kim Il Song and many other socialist camp national leaders to Mongolia. 1) Mongolian Honorary Medal of Labor with the booklet and plastic box. Nr 22763, awarded in 1976. 2) Mongolian Medal of 50th anniversary of revolution with the document.3) Mongolian Medal of 80th anniversary of revolution with the document.4) Mongolian Revolutionary Youth League's 50 years badge with the document.5) Medal of 1300 Years to Bulgaria with the document and original box.6) Centenary Medal of Georgii Dimitrov with the document and original box. 7) Medal of 40 Years to Socialist Republic of Bulgaria the document and original box.8) East German Merit Medal, with ribbon and original box.

      And some more items related to Jamyan arrived 1) Badge of the 60th anniversary of foundation of MPR. The badge has a VIP document awarded in 1984. 2) Badge of Military Glory of Mongolian Youth Union (successor of Mongolian Revolutionary Youth Union). The badge has a document awarded in 2000. 3) Souvenir plaque of 1979 auto rally "Friendship" hosted by the Defense auxiliary society (headed by Jamyan). The rally was held on the 50th anniversary of Defense auxiliary society and involved Mongolian and Soviet teams that traveled from Ulan-Ude (USSR) to the battle cites of Khalkhin Gol. 4) Magazine of Defense auxiliary society dated 1979 which features articles of prominent people including Jamyan himself. On the inside page of the front cover, the magazine has a stamp of the society and a handwritten inscription that reads " Defense auxiliary society of MPR". Included is a page that shows the itinerary (roadmap) of the above mentioned Friendship auto rally. 5) A souvenir plaque of the 1977 international auto rally "October 60" dedicated to the 60th anniversary of October revolution. The COMECON countries took part in this rally. 6) Invitation issued to Jamyan on Nov.7, 1984 requesting his presence at the ceremony of marking the 67th anniversary of October revolution in the Government House of MPR.

      These pics were of one floor in one wing. There much much more - in particular displays with uniforms and assorted items. Also outside all kinds of soviet era tanks etc.

      Don't have much time so will just dump some pics in - focused on pics with lots of medals although the museum has a lot more (and barely no visitors!)

      Sure, about to go on vacation but give me 1-2 weeks and I'll be loading lots more pics. The Zhivkov display... there were at least 10-20 more of those with same caliber of awards. Really a great museum and Sofia is a charming city so recommend it for a long weekend trip.
