    1. Anybody tried (with success?) to get information from the archives? If so, how? I have a numbered hero of labour which I'd love to get researched http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Archives_of_Romania http://www.arhivelenationale.ro/index.php?page=26&lan=0
    2. Aha, that's the post I was looking for:) Just had a pinback 816 offered to me. Near miss:)
    3. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=36870 In above thread!
    4. Could it be they changed the screw because the owner lost the screw plate?
    5. http://www.telegraaf.nl/buitenland/3986975...m__.html?p=11,1 article's in dutch, sorry
    6. The red banner has arrived safely in Belgium and will post scans of it + document later today. Can already post some other things though as well. Here's his first mongolian orders booklet
    7. Maybe it's just me, but can these pics please be posted in the thread dedicated to this award. If each time somebody buys a new medal a new thread is started (look at what I got, and then the thread typically dies) things will become chaos and it prevents from developing a good body of knowledge on all the intricacies of a specific medal.
    8. Nice Always like these polar stars, and this one is clearly worn and used, just like they are supposed to be
    9. What are the serial numbers and, again, for the interest of this forum: please share the available documentation which supports your assertion that they were all awarded to a general. If not, well, why even post on this forum because this is precisely a place where people may help you to decypher the doc's.
    10. Not sure I understand your response chinamedals. You might want to have a look at http://www.collectrussia.com/showcat.htm?cat=Mongol%20Medals As you can see, this reputable dealer has some for sale just like you do. As you can see as well, they are described as "near mint condition". Which, to any reasonable Mongolia collector, is a strong indication that they are probably bank escapees. Doesn't mean they are not beautiful / valuable, but nonetheless it's important. By the way, you'll see that the dealer is selling this at a considerably lower price than you are (despite his prices usually being quite high). Any potential buyer would be interested to know the justification for your considerably higher price... and if it is ownership by a general, well, then any potential buyer would want to get something more than "just trust me" to be assured of that.
    11. Right... I'll end it here. I'm sure you'll be able to sell your 'group' a lot sooner if you 'market' it better though
    12. Wonderful - I'm sure the forum would love to see scans
    13. Right... And would you be so kind as to teach us all a lesson here on that General which supposedly was awarded this set of 4 red banners? :banger:
    14. Just received confirmation that Sodnomdarjaa was indeed in the party of six who assassinated Dambijantsan in 1922. Sodnomdarjaa mentions this in a book he wrote entitled "Partisans". That book is in Mongolian (of course) but I'll try to find it anyway (who knows, may contain pictures...). A detailed account of the assassination is given in the Diluv Khutagt?s Book, Chapter 4. I'm in contact with a US based historian who's in Mongolia right now doing research specifically on Dambijantsan's assassination (what a coincidence!).
    15. Sad day Thanks Ed for your many contributions
