Italy - Medals relating to Albania
Bob replied to Eric Schena's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
Just in, a nice Italian miniature set, 10 medals mounted on a black silk cord: * Order of the Crown of Italy (founded as a national order in 1868 by King Vittorio Emanuele II, to commemorate the unification of Italy in 1861) * Medal of Military Valor, bronze; * Silver Messina Earthquake Medal 1908; * Messina Earthquake Medal 1908, bronze; * Italo-Turkish War 1911-1912 Silver Medal (hallmarked 800 on reverse in very small letters); medal instituted by Vittorio Emanuele III of Savoy on 21 November 1912 for all civilian personnel and Italian and colonial troops who fought against the Ottoman Empire in the Italo-Turkish War of 1911 to 1912 * War Merit Cross, bronze; * 1915-1918 Campaign Medal, bronze; * United Italy Medal 1848-1918, bronze; * Italian Victory Medal, bronze; * Albania, Order of Skanderberg, silver gilt enameled, maker’s mark from “E. Gardino, Roma” http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2012/post-679-0-91638500-1327617331.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2012/post-679-0-09571300-1327617348.jpg http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2012/post-679-0-65279500-1327617362.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2012/post-679-0-65604900-1327617382.jpg -
Mongolia Lieutenant General Jambyn JAMYAN (1916-2007)
Bob replied to Bob's topic in People's Republic Mongolia
And here the interior of the DPRK doc... it is a document awarded to Jamyan and there is a brief handwritten note in Mongolian on the first page of the booklet. It is the note written by the same person (most probably Jamyan himself) that can be observed on the other foreign award docs. The Mongolian note states "Document for the Order of the National Flag 1st Class of DPRK". Yes, a second booklet for the same award - and all the numbers, dates match! My suspicion is that this booklet may be the original, that Jamyan lost it, had a new one re-issued (with pic) and then found this one again. But that is just a theory. That's all for now, still hoping for more to come my away! http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2012/post-679-0-71117600-1326758461.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2012/post-679-0-27268400-1326758485.jpg -

Amazing posts her past few weeks!
-
That last one his excellent - and he certainly doesn't appear to be Mongolian!
-
Not as spectacular as some of the other recent postings, but I'm a big fan of this award and am also very interested in related documents. Attached one for SB nr 291, awarded 15-12-1960 No pic of the recipient unfortunately http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2012/post-679-0-88482300-1326159055.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2012/post-679-0-90657600-1326159103.jpg

Impressive!

A barrage of activity on here the past couple of days, and only GREAT stuff:) More to come next week (also from me, although "smaller" stuff ) Nice way to enter the long weekend break!
-
Very nice. Are you by any chance a collector of this particular medal? What's particularly interesting is the amount of variations that can be observed (especially for lower numbers). Offers challanges for sure!

Mongolia Order of Military Valour & Order of the Red Combat Banner

Interesting, is that a "duplicate" indication below the serial number? -

Excellent! -
The variety of serial numbering style continues to defy logic!

Thanks - very useful reference point. The numbering style looks very well aligned with 413 and 420 shown earlier in this thread. I do believe (off top of my memory) that these are post-socialist awarded ones though. -
Appreciate if you could share more of your Mongolia collection here on GMIC - especially groups, documents and rare (numbered) awards.

Bob replied to Bob's topic in People's Republic Mongolia
Some new Jamyan items arrived (and there's more to come, incl. something interesting from DPRK): 1) Medal "Glory to the Virgin Land Cultivators" (document was already in my posession) 2) 60 Year to Mongolian State Security Badge with the VIP doc 3) Assorted other medals/badges -
That is a LOVELY piece!

Reverse, a far cry from the super slick Soviet medal bars you sometimes see. Clearly these medals on this bar have some real "history" behind them!
-
And here another bar - mixed cloth / plastic ribbons and also interesting to notice the repair of the red star order at the ring.
