Thought I'd post this zweitschrift soldbuch to Obergefreiter Hans Schenk. He was awarded the KVK2 w/s, Ost medal & KBA in bronze. Schwere Art. Abt. 859 was equipped with 21cm Morsers. In Feb '44 Schenk was suspected of feigning illness. He was taken POW by the Western Allies or at least spent time in an American POW camp. As "hucks216" kindly pointed out he must've done a runner so that he was not taken POW by the Russians, as many did. The pic in the Soldbuch seems to be the photo that was in his original S/B, just re-used in this zweitschrift S/B. Stewy

Hi folks, after seeing Andreas' wonderful group I thought I'd post this group of mine. Heinz Schlatt fought in Narva, the group is only missing the NKS in bronze & it's "mini" they were sold before I managed to keep the group together. Whether the NKS doc was ever included, I have no idea. Not a recipient of high awards, but a time served soldier. Stewy More. Stewy

Hi people, I've just got this group. A mate of mine has a group from 1./ Kw.Trsp. Abt. 503 his group has a Kuban shield doc with it. Could this bloke have been there too? Info on this unit's scant. KVK2 w/s is #110, Otto Zappe. Not an exciting group, but nice KBA doc. Both this group & my mates have the same signatures on the KBA & KVK docs .Arbeitsbuch's are his & his missus. Stewy

German Cross in gold medal group

Yes Andreas, it's been repaired. I'm not sure the catch isn't a replacement. These usually have either a rounded "C" wire catch or a ? style catch. This looks a flat wire variant. It may be original to the badge, but I can't tell from the pic. Stewy -

As a footnote #32 Hobacher BWB's are seldom encountered, yours definitely is a Hobacher. Congrats, Stewy -

No problem Andreas, glad to help. Are any other awards maker marked? It's a nice group. Have you researched Kuttner's career? Thanks for showing. Stewy -

It must've been the loss of at more than one limb &/or eye. Who's the ISA made by Andreas? Stewy -
Hi people, thought I'd post this. Robert Dannhauser served with Kampfgeschwader 40 as ground crew from Sept '43. They flew He177's equipped with Henschel Hs 293 guided bombs. In late '43 they sunk troop carrier "Rohna". In Jan '45 he was awarded the KVK2 w/s. March '45 he joined Jagdgeschwader 5 on the Eismeerfront. Signature on page 25 is that of Werner Glomb (thanks hucks). Stewy

There's a Werfer group somewhere & the fella's got a silver ISA. I'm fairly sure that was awarded while he was with another unit though. As daft as it sounds there's a Dragon 1/6 scale Werfer figure with a silver ISA. How historically accurate they are, I don't know. That's why I wondered if a bronze ISA may have been a possible award for (Mot) Werfer troops. There must be more info out there I've yet to find. Stewy I'm not sure if I've got any other Werfer related stuff. If I have it'll only be photos. Not docs etc. Stewy

That's an interesting question. One I can't as yet answer. As L/W had 'Werfer units too, would they receive the LW ASA? Most were motorised Units some with Maultiers mounted with N/W's both Heer & L/W. I can't as yet find a doc to a Nebelwerfer unit with a doc that would assist. If infantry (could) an ISA bronze be awarded? That's a very good query you've thrown up. Stewy
