    1. Hi Steve, May thanks! Wow, that was fast service! Just out of curiosity is there any way to get copies of any paperwork on any of these that I have? Or... I shudder to even think it... a picture of the original recipient... I really, really shudder... wearing the decoration in question? Just not very familiar with such research. But that's my dream with any of the awards I have that may be traceable... to be able to get info as well as a pic(s) preferably of the award being worn. Many thanks! Dan
    2. Hi Dolf, Just thought I'd mention here that I believe these are run on History International. It seems to be a whole series on "The Ten Best...". They've done battleships, armored personnel carriers, tanks, fighter planes, bombers, etc. I try to tape them whenever I can catch one as I think they've done a terrific job with the series. And I've noticed that all the German gear tends to rank upper mid range to just under or at the highest marks in nearly all categories! Not bad considering they're taking them from the beginning right on up to present day. Nice to see that old German stuff holding it's own against our modern high tech. Dan
    3. This one is named as follows: Joseph Furness Thanks for taking a look. Dan
    4. This is named as follows: Andrew Scotland MacLeod Being a huge Highlander fan I'm rather proud of this one... perhaps it's the great man himself in one of "reincarnations".
    5. Some sort of Coronation medal?
    6. And these are "home" mounted for display only... did not come this way. Named as follows: Left is: 60895 GNR. H.M. Hunt R.A. Right is: 34340 N. Kiely SMN. R.N.R.
    7. Named as follows: T-37553 DVR. J.A. Wakley A.S.C.
    8. And not sure if it's important... I forgot to snap a picture of the outside of the case but it says M.B.E. in gold on top.
    9. Being in the Merchant Marines... although not active, this one really appeals to me, along with it's color and that of the ribbon. Just really love this one. It's named as follows: Sher Mohd Awaz Khan
    10. Pretty sure the all green ribbon on the one is wrong, but again... I just don't know. If it is, and if anyone happens to have a ribbon for it they'd be willing to part with please let me know. Thanks! The green ribboned one is not named. The other is named as follows: 4426 PTE. J. Warren 18th Hussars
    11. Hi all, Okay... I know enough here to be dangerous but that's about it. Basically, here's what I have... here's who the named ones are named to and that's about it. Anything else you'll have to tell me. Anyhow here goes... first my minis:
    12. Hi Rick, I would humbly but "strongly" suggest you head over to your local family center... they're run by the Mormon Church and are everywhere. They do not charge for their services and love to help out in genealogical research. They are to genealogy what, frankly, you and many of the other members of this club are to our hobby. I guarantee you'll have one or more in your area. They have people who are absolutely terrific at genealogy plus they may likely be able to link you to the exact people you need to track down this crest. It looks like you've narrowed down a time frame, and it seems it would be someone from Germany, be it from Prussia or one of the states that would have owned this magnificent piece. German heraldry is a bit different from that of say, England and you need someone familiar with their system and where to find what. But once you find "that" person or persons you will be well on your way to find out who this belonged to. The nice thing is, most genealogists are all too happy to assist in such little mysteries as this and although some research can cost a bit much of it is free of charge as those folks are as passionate and dedicated to their hobby as we are to ours. And knowing that this individual "had" to, as you say have more money then God it should be all that much easier to track him down. As a noble it will be all that much easier to track him down. I hope you have some luck with this... will be keeping my fingers tightly crossed and will be saying a few prayers for you on this one! Good luck! Dan
    13. Hi all, Here's a set of straps... well, actually they're slightly different both in size and in base color. Have had them forever and know little about them. Would love to know more. They're nice and go well with my Imperial pieces but always nice to have a bit more info... so if anyone happens to know I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for looking, Dan
    14. Hi all, Got this many moons ago in a group... no idea what it's for, etc. So if anyone knows more please pass it on. It's a neat little medallion... just something about it I like. Thanks, Dan
    15. Hi all, Have had this forever and a day... or at least twenty years, whichever comes first. Would love to know what it is, what it's for, and perhaps even if it's at all valuable or not? I simply no nothing about it... other than the fact that it comes with one heck of a long ribbon!!!! Thanks, Dan
    16. Hi Darrell, Awwwww shucks... it's portable... you just need a truck! Just kidding! This one is just so nice I couldn't pass it up. And looks great with all the little portable stuff too! Sometimes one just needs a center piece for the display and boy does this ever qualify! Thanks, Dan
    17. VERY NICE! And those mounting holes actually make more sense to me then what I have on mine. Am assuming on the originals they had bolts that ran through the post and into the back. Deeply appreciate you showing your's. If ya ever want to part with her let me know... wouldn't mind bookends! Thanks! Dan
    18. Here's the crown: And closeups of the Kaisers: I cannot find any makers marks on the piece and have no other history on it. So if anyone has ever seen these... perhaps even knows the original location and it's history, etc. that it came from, I'd dearly love to know as it would make this an even more interesting piece. Many thanks! Dan
    19. Hi all, Okay... decided to pull up one of my heavy pieces. This is a bronze plaque that I got about nine or ten years ago... see folks... I actually didn't get "everything" twenty years ago! It's heavy as the dickens... we're talking like fantastic paper weight here and for like really thick piles of paper too! It measures 10 1/4 inches across at the widest point (from the back) by 13 inches from the tip of the crown to the base and it's 1 1/4 inches thick (close as I can get it) at it's thickest point from base of the rim to the thickest point on the figures. Of course it's hollow in the center area so that's just to give you an idea of how big and hefty this piece is. From what I was told it originally hung in an Opera house... I believe in Berlin but could not swear to that. They were doing a complete restoration years ago and removed this and several others. The original owner also had another one that was nearly identical but showed Bismarck and I "think" I remember him saying he had a third one which showed just Kaiser Wilhelm. I wish I could have gotten the rest he had but those he didn't want to part with. I believe I got this for $100... He was originally asking $250 for it but it came as part of a large bulk buy. And I think I got a good deal as it's a terrific piece... now all I need is an Opera house or better yet a palace as an appropriate place to mount it. All donations gleefully accepted!
