Grentztruppen

Well, I am not sure either...I would take a stab at sometime after 1979 based upon some of the hats I have seen. I have a couple officer pieces in my collection dated 1976 that have the 2-piece badge, but my general's visor is dated 1979 and it has a nice badge that looks to be 2-piece as well. I have other general's hats from the 1980's that appear almost one-piece. I do not read German, so I am not sure if it is written in any books as to when the change was officially made.

Frankly, I would not even worry about the buttons. I know they are incorrect for this particular branch of service, but the hat is nice! Nice find...
