    1. I believe this to be the right hand badge of the soldier with Brezhnev and Zhivkov:- Kevin in Deva.
    2. Hallo John, Your medal is from Belgium, not France, its the; The Civil Decoration 1940-1945, third Class in Bronze. you can check out fellow GMIC member Hendrick's website on Belgian medals at http://users.skynet.be/hendrik/startpage.html Your medal is featured at: http://users.skynet.be/hendrik/eng/B2-CivDec.html Kevin in Deva.
    3. Hallo Laurence many thanks for taking the time to provide some information with regards my item. I believe the Soviets / Russia have the most comprehensive series, of Camo uniforms covering areas of the Russian Continent. Kevin in Deva.
    4. Interestingly enough if you take the numbers to be a date, as in 12 January 1948 it leads to this when entered into an internet search:- http://domino.un.org/UNISPAL.NSF/db942872b...33;OpenDocument Which is a one page document related to: UNITED NATIONS PALESTINE COMMISSION COMMUNICATION FROM THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE JEWISH AGENCY FOR PALESTINE I feel this has more of a connection as a commemorative medallion, to an ex prisoner of the camps, rather than a nazi item but stand open to be corrected. It might be an idea to contact the American Jewish Holocaust Museum an see if they can identify it. Kevin in Deva.
    5. As far as I am aware, the nazis did not bother gving the prisoners id tags, apart from a number tattooed on the arm, and the triangles were also color coded. so one worn as an idea in silver would not make much sense. As for the numbers, seems like a date but that would mean 112th January 1948!! I don't think a German Military Doctor would knowingly hand over, an item that might be used to incriminate him, with regards to him having served in the camps, with regards Auschwitz the fear of being handed over to the Russians would have ensured that. Seeing as this was given in 1945 / 46 and the war crimes trials were in full swing. Kevin in Deva.
    6. The three places mentioned, Kaufering, Landsberg, Allach:- are all concentration work camps in Bavaria. A Net search returns the following:- http://www.buergervereinigung-landsberg.or...p/dp_camp.shtml http://www.survivors-landsberg.com/deathmarch.html http://www.jewishgen.org/forgottencamps/Ge...l/ListeEng.html Dachau * Allach (Org. Can you provide some close up pictures of the item? And a single Triangle on its own did not necessarily mean Homosexual.
