Hallo Rick, just to clarify a point, on Bar Number 4, is the receipiant using a piece of K.V.K. ribbon to represent the Kyffh?userbund Medal or is that the original Kyffh?userbund Medal mini ribbon? Kevin in Deva

With regards Bar Number 4: Number 4 ribbon = 1874-1913Sachsen-Konigreich Ribbon for 9, 12, Dienstjahre Medaille or 15, Dienstjahre der Unteroffiziere Kreuz. Last ribbon on Number 4 is a WW2 KVK with swords ribbon. Kevin in Deva.

Hallo Ricky, with regards the names: As both documents were obtained in Cluj-Napoca / Klausenburg which has a very large ethnic Hungarian and German population, ethnic names such as these crop up all over. Hauptman was the family name, however according to my wife there is a possibility that Simion could be her family name before she married (e.g. Miss Maria Simion who then became Mrs. Maria Simion-Hauptman R.S.R versions of this medal are also possible available as replacements to lost or damaged awards post R.P.R period. Hallo Gents, Picked this one up in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania on Saturday May 31st 2008. R.P.R. Period "Medalia Elibearea De Sub Jugul Fascist" with Legitimatie. Awarded to persons who helped liberate Romania from the grip of the Fascists, in WW2. Interestingly awarded to a Maria Simion Hauptman Bet the paper work for this raised a few eyebrows at Party H.Q: Kevin in Deva.

Hallo Ricky, there is a peculiarity with regards some ribbons on Romanian Communist awards, The "Ordinul Meritul Militar" for example, as all, despite 1, 2, 3, class are hanging from a ribbon with one thin red stripe in the center, on the small ribbons for the chest, class is denoted by: 1 thin red stripe for First Class, 2 thin stripes for Second Class, and 3 thin red stripes, for Third Class. until I see a mini bar featuring this award "Military Virtue Medal" I wont know for sure.
