    15. Hi Tim, just caught your post with regards this, I have never come across reference that there were any French made Battle bars. I think I should pose your question on a Romanian site and see if anything about your idea is known. Also it is possible that they could be a Romanian made variation, its such a pity that so much information has been lost with regards items of the Romanian Royal period. Kevin in Deva.
    16. My comment "Sometimes two is better than one!" is not meant to be smart-assed but a comment on how rarely, if ever, you get to see two such badges being worn on a uniform. Kevin in Deva.
    17. Hallo Irish Gunner, many thanks for the information you provided, I learned today after I left the dealer's table a friend of mine took the item, so I will send him a copy of your info. Kevin in Deva.

    19. Picture 20 I was lucky enough to acquire this picture on Saturday (19. 01. 2011) while in Brasov. While a Romanian, at least 2 A-H awards are being worn. Medal Bar (at least 10, possibly 12 awards):- 1. Romanian Order of the Crown of Romania, Civil / Peacetime model. 2. Romanian Credible Service Medal, Civil Model. 3. Romanian 1877 War of Independence Victory Medal. 4. Unknown at this point in time. 5. Unknown at this point in time. 6. Imperial Austrian Hungarian Merit Cross without Crown 7. Unknown at this point in time. 8. Unknown at this point in time. 9. Unknown at this point in time. 10.Unknown at this point in time. Medals under the bar:- 1. Imperial Austrian Hungarian Merit Cross with Crown. 2. Romanian 1906 Jubilee of King Carol I Medal. 3. Romanian Centenary Medal for King Carol I. He also appears to be sporting a small token/medal in his top button-hole. Kevin in Deva.
    20. Gents, if I may be so bold to add this picture that I came across in here:- A varying assortment of national awards including Romanian, Polish, Italian, Belgium but with a US Victory Medal. The picture had no information whatsoever about who was the owner, but possibly may generate some discussion here. Kevin in Deva.
    21. Dear Arnim, The fact that there exists an official department to "quality control" the fake items in most countries and which warns the public that they are invariably made from sub-standard parts and materials and will not give the same service or last as long and in some cases are liable to contribute to an accident as opposed the genuine brand name articles. Many of the cheaper copies & fakes being sold in similar copied packaging as the original designed further to fool the buyer, and its human nature to tend to look for a bargain. As for those who make ribbon bars, they could use synthetic thread which would light up under black light, they could have the letter "R" stamped onto the metal parts of the ribbon bar, those making copies could introduce the letter "R" into the casting or stamping but they wont because the majority of the items to be sold as originals. You mention in another post American official military medals and insignia items, many of the W.W.2 era, Korea, Vietnam era medals are still in stock from the original manufactures, so there is no need to fake them. Here on G.M.I.C. there is a commendable policy of warning people about copies / fakes many of which are being offered as genuine articles, many of which are Third Reich pieces, these invariably will attract the attention of the faker, both due to the big prices commanded by such original items, and the fact that as time goes by their scarcity on the market place. People ie. dealers-businessmen have been caught out offering items as original, the same people have often been contacted and told their pieces are not what they claim, some have the good grace to come clean and admit that what the offer are not "original", others pig-headily continue to carry on ignoring any attempt to discuss their "abortions" with one clear purpose, to fool the gullible novice collector, its even more interesting to note many do not have the courtesy to offer a money back guarantee for their creations. Kevin in Deva.
    22. Picture 19 Close-up of ribbon bar:- 1.Romanian Order of the Star - Order of the Crown on Military Virtue Ribbon (Or Cross of Military Virtue) 2. Romanian Cross of War for WW1 (strangely if so, I would have expected to see more medal ribbons being worn.) Nothing on the rear of the card.
    23. Picture 18 Two Romanian medals fit this shape The Military Merit / Credible Service Medal (Civil/Peacetime version) and the Romanian King Carol Centenary Medal. I would be inclined to think its the later. Kevin in Deva.
    24. The last pictures of THE DONOVICI FAMILY COLLECTION :- Picture 19 :- Donovici Nicolae. Unmarked to the rear. Picture 20 :- Medal bar:- 1. Romanian Order of the Crown of Romania with swords on Military Virtue ribbon. 2. Romanian Order of the Star of Romania on Military Virtue ribbon. The others I can only speculate:- 3. ? 4. Romanian Balkan Campaign Medal. 5. ? 6. ? Rear of the card. Kevin in Deva.
