    1. Hallo pmargulies, apologies for having missed your post with regards the ribbon bars you obtained, some very nice examples. The cloth ribbons are a great addition to your collection. Kevin in Deva.
    2. Great looking items, please show some close-ups of the individual bars in the case. Kevin in Deva.
    3. Very nice, great find. I have two items in my collection bearing the same Stuttgart label a 1934 Hindenburg Cross of Honour for N.C. and 2 III Reich Service Medals on a bar. Kevin in Deva.
    4. "20 Year Old Armenian Cognac" Will it survive another 20 unopened? reminds me of the time I was in Damascus in Syria in 1980 and was given a bottle of Canadian Black Velvet by Canadian soldiers with U.N.D.O.F. the bottle was dated 1974 and remains yet in my brothers home in Ireland, unopened. Kevin in Deva. :jumping:
    5. I agree the cross has been added to the bar in lieu of a German / Prussian Service award. Beautiful Italian award though. Kevin in Deva.
    6. Better pictures of the item in question:- http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2010/post-950-128436431773.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2010/post-950-128436433267.jpg Kevin in Deva.
    7. Great find & pics, now all you need is an original horse Kevin in Deva.
    8. Outer stiching and rivet on the belt middle:- Inner belt loop, with stitching. Kevin in Deva.
    9. located in the center of the belt the buckle adjustment strap stitching and rivet. the other end of the buckle adjustment strap near the tip of the belt also stitched and riveted. Kevin in Deva.
    10. Hallo Ian, was out with the wife today at the local "Gypsy Market" as the locals call it and believe it or not, I picked up an original period belt and "R.S.R." Buckle. Length:- 108 cm Width:- 4 cm Colour:- Dark Brown. Condition:- Used but complete, even with the belt loop. It was on the ground under a load of other gear what caught my eye was the brass hook tip of the belt. Kevin in Deva.
    11. Hallo Alec. With regards commemorative tinnies for Sonthofen Gebirgsjäger commemorations, post WW2 a few of them have the capped soldiers head and donkey design featured on your item. I can't recall ever seeing any type of a badge other than their "Edelweiss" badge worn in any W.W.2 pictures. Your item has two holes in the upper part so would it be worn hung around the neck? As it seems not to have been designed for being fixed to the uniform. Kevin in Deva.
    12. Hallo Ian, thats the badge however there is at least one variation, please excuse this pic taken under house lights I will do it in daylight tomorrow (I know I said that about the belt, but just did not get the time today) . Kevin in Deva.
    13. Great picture. Front row, bottom left "Barefoot in the Park" Excused boots?
    14. The lower I would say is post Revolution period pre 1945 Buckles as far as I recall had a crown rather the coat of Arms. Kevin in Deva.
    15. Thats one of the reasons care has to be taken when observing things in the Museums here even though the communist period is quite fresh in peoples minds, the staff do inadvertently make mistakes with regards displays. Kevin in Deva.
    16. Rear:- Size of Brass version:- 58mm X 48mm Weight:- 65 gram. I will add belt width and pictures tomorrow, as I prefer to take pictures in natural light. Kevin in Deva.
    17. I believe it more likely the buckle in brass was the one used by the military including the P.G. Kevin in Deva.
    18. The size of the smaller buckle is:- 57mm X 49mm Weight:- 55 gram. Kevin in Deva
    19. Clip Two buckles side by side Originally issued in Matt black. Kevin in Deva.
    20. Close-up of the belt & buckle, similar to the one on the P. G. uniform in the Romanian Military Museum, Bucharest, but, I will have to look for confirmation that it is the correct one, I have a suspicion that the one in the museum and the one I attach pictures off is in fact from the post communist period:- Pressed steel construction. Size 60mm X 50mm Weight:- 68 gram. Kevin in Deva.
    21. Red felt backing can be found on the P.G. badge and I have observed one or two examples with a red plastic type backing, but, that might be a "field manufactured" item. Also I believe strong sunlight had an adverse reaction to some of the "enamel" on badges, which in reality was more of a colored plastic, along with multiple manufacturers to compound the quality control problem. Kevin in Deva.
