    As meyar has said the edelweiss was the traditional cap badge for the U-124, but many other sailors used it. After the sunk of the KM destroyers in Narvik, the crews of the ships fight in land with the mountain troops, and these gave to the KM sailors their caps badges as a gift. So after that many of them mantein the badge in their caps as a war emblem.

    This model of edelweiss I only have seen in an officer cap that has Bill Shea saoem years ago. The usual badge is the big one.
