Herr General Posted February 13, 2007 Author Posted February 13, 2007 Could his unknown breast star be the Belgian Order of the Crown? It looks like the star awarded for Commander 1. class (aka Grand Officer) and - although my Dutch is non-existing - I would interpret "Commandeur en groot-officier" in the article as Grand Officer./MikeHi Mike, I think that it is indeed the Grandofficer star from the Belgian Order of the Crown. http://users.skynet.be/hendrik/Commandeur en groot-officier translates as Commander and Grandofficer but mistakes in the grades of higher foreign awards are often made in old dutch newspapers.
Great Dane Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 BTW, even the Persian order is listed correctly in the article. 4th grade = 5 arms, and that's what he is wearing.../Mike

Herr General Posted March 5, 2007 Author Posted March 5, 2007 Here's a close-up of the bar from W.G. van Hoogenhuyze. Interesting to see that he kept the Austrian ribbons in the typical Austrian style.
