Paul L Murphy Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Here is a nice Gramata that I picked up recently. Unfortunately there were no other documents with it. It is to a veteran of the 4th Tank Army. I have to admit I find the various gramata certificates very pleasing to look at and really inexpensive to purchase. I wonder why they are so underrated by collectors (apart from the fact there are a lot of them about) ?
Ed_Haynes Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Some of it, I suspect, may be language. You have it, but what does it say?!A shame these are ignored, for these are nice, even though they don't have pretty enamel!
Paul L Murphy Posted September 16, 2006 Author Posted September 16, 2006 It was given to a veteran of the 4th Guards Tank Army. I have not got the dictionary out yet to check everything but basically it was on his 85th birthday and in recognition of his excellent work on behalf of the veteran's association.Cheers,Paul
Gerd Becker Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Hi Paul, thats a very nice Gramota. Do you have the badge to the document too? I don?t remember to have seen this particular badge before.regards,Gerd
order_of_victory Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Nice Doc Paul I havent seen one like that before Order of Victory
Paul L Murphy Posted September 16, 2006 Author Posted September 16, 2006 Unfortunately I do not have the badge but I am keeping my eyes open in case one turns up. It would be nice to get one and put the two together in a decent frame.
Paul L Murphy Posted September 30, 2006 Author Posted September 30, 2006 Finally I found the badge to go with the certificate. They make a lovely couple. I also got a badge for the 40th Anniversary of the 4th Guards Tank Army so I will probably put them together to disprove the idea that three is a crowd.
Guest Rick Research Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Congratulations on finding a matching badge! This is remarkably difficult to do, despite the apparently large numbers of many of these unit badges out there. I've been looking for this 30th Victory anniversary WW2 signals veteran badge to match a document with THAT badge missing (wouldn't you just know it) from General Petukhov's whole group. Nope. Haven't seen one in years.[attachmentid=55285]
Ed_Haynes Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Might be easier to find in Moscow than most places?
Paul L Murphy Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 Rick,I will keep a lookout for it here in Moscow. If I find it, it is yours.Regards,Paul
Bryan Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 The badge and the document are really nice! Good find!
