DavidM Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 HelloWould I be correct in saying it is of one piece conctruction ? If so, I like it. The Schinkles which do not have magnetic cores and appear to be made of brass are generally brass plated over the base metal that they were made from. They would then have the silver plate and paint applied. Apparently the brass produced a surface that the paint and the silver plate would bond to.Yes, I like it.
joe campbell Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 while i've not seen this particular style of schinkel before,i like the needle/hinge, the metal on the reverse, and themanufacture.i'd have it in my collection.very nice.joe
Motorhead Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Joe,you have seen this kind of Schinkel before....http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5611&st=0I like what I see here-this one is a"good" one with a copper plated iron core and the right pin for this variation.Unfortunatelly I wasn't able to upgrade mine-I'm always looking for the better one .But back to this one-for me it's a fine piece and I wouldn't have any problems to add it into my own collection.Micha
joe campbell Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 i stand corrected! that's a wonderful link, micha.the 54 year old brain is sometimes a bit "leaky"...the aforementioned thread deserves a look from all.joe
