    My Post WW1 CEF Collection

    Recommended Posts

    Hello,

I have an interest in post WW1 CEF veteran Items. As you can see from the the pictures below there is a wide variety of different pins and paper items that can be collected. I just want to share some of my pieces with you all.

I'll start off with a some of the pins that can be found. Starting at the top and going left is the CEF Service at the front pin (Class A). The Second is the Services Rendered Pin (For wounded guys, Class B). The third is the For Honourable Service pin given out to guys who served but not at the front (ie. to old so kept back in England. Class C). In the bottom row, there is the Great War Veterans Pin, the British Empire Service League Pin, the 1934 Toronto CEF reunion pin, the 1938 Toronto Reunion Pin and the final one I believe to be a private purchace 2nd Can Div Pin that would have been worn after the war.

    Enjoy,

    Cam

Next up are 2 welcome back cards. The first one is quite common and was given out to guys going home. This was given out upon embarkation from La Harve. The second one is from 2 small communities in my Province of Manitoba. It was given out to the guys when the got back home.

Next up is the two Toronto Reunion pins. There also is a hard to find ticket from the event in 1938 where it describes the activities that were to happen. It has an even "rarer" thumb smudge on the right hand side!

Finallly are some of my reunion ribbons. I have serveral of these but I like these to the best. The first says it all. I am sure one or two ex CEF soldiers got a little to tipsy and needed help in finding thier way back. The second one is very nicely embriodered and is in really good condition. I also find it interesting that these reunions are going on during the height of the next great world war.

I hope you all have enjoyed my pictures.

I picked up a small, less than 1/2 inch, British Empire Service League Pin about a year ago as part of a group of insignia. On the back it is marked 1927 RD: W. Scully. Kevin

There are several different sized League pins. I guess it was for different forms of dress.

Does anyone else collect this kind of stuff or is it just me?

You're not alone Cam, I too collect the old Canadian Legion items as well. I have a few BESL 1920's pins posted on my thread on Commonwealth militari in this forum as well as a VetCraft cardboard poppy and a few other Legion items (a ww2 era cap badge is also displayed in my Canadian cap badge thread). My grandfather is still very active with the Legion here in BC so it is only natural that I enjoy the old Legion stuff! I really enjoyed looking at your sets, nice to see them kept together to tell the whole story. I don't have any of the Class pins yet but I will be on he lookout for sure.

Cheers and thanks for showing your great Canadian militaria

    Nice collection

The Toronto Reunion has it's own set of stugg .I have a few items i have turned over to a collector of my unit memorabilia. They had bereats colored to there Divison ,as well as Arm Bands . Alot of the enameled badges you may see were for the reunion.

If you ever get to To there is a memoriel park nrxt to HMCS York ( lakefront) .At the base of each tree there is a brass plack to each battalion in the CEF ,organised by brigade . The Biggest tree was dedicated to George the Vth and other nenbers of the Allied Armies.

The one badge looks like the Canadian Corps Association . The 2nc Divisional pin was usually a association item , I know they were more popular in WW2.

    Nice collection
