Stan Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Many years ago I bought a U-Boat Spange in Silver which was housed in a blue case, similar to the Luftwaffe Clasps.I showed it to Adrian Forman and what he liked about it was the paper hinge. I recently sent photos to Gordon Williamson who said that he had not seen a blue case for this item before, only paper envelopes and cardboard boxes with stapled corners. Here are the photosStan
Marcus H Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Interesting, I've never seen a 'case' for one Stan, I'm only aware of the plain 'generic' cardboard boxes and not even the packets either !!I'd be interested to see more Stan of the case without the badge in it if possible and anyone whom has a packet or pic of one too.KrMarcus

Marcus H Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Thanks Stan,I'll get back to this case, it's very interesting and a some what revelation in terms !!All I can say is the outer covering is NOT the very very convincing Luft fake outer covering and there is one that is near perfect !KrMarcus
Stogieman Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Marcus, check the silk lining for the lid/hinge.... see the weave pattern?
Marcus H Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Not without a close up Rick, I can't tell a thing from these pic's mate. What are your thoughts my mentor ?
John R Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Stan,No matter the case which can be open for discussion, the badge itself is a beautiful example, very nice. You just do not see silver frontspanges in this condition very often. The case may have been homemade perhaps to protect this badge, and it looks like it did it work very well.Again, I do not have an opinion on the case, but what a badge!!!!!!!!!!!!!John
