genoa41 Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Dear GordonI am in trouble with this badge What do you think aboaut it ?Many thanks for any helpyours sincerelygiorgio
joetauchretter Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 In my opinion this is a reproduction badge . I think it looks like a cast badge and I do not like the pin assembly and the way it is attached to the badge . Joe
Michel Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Many things are wrongs on this badge, not an original IMO.
genoa41 Posted December 6, 2006 Author Posted December 6, 2006 Many things are wrongs on this badge, not an original IMO.Hello michel and joeMany thanks .The assembly pin and the excess of soldering are not unusual , I am doubtful about the space between eagle and wreath, the flag ,the rudder and the mark (?) incuse in a little square .regardsgiorgio
Gordon Williamson Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I'd agree with Michel and Joe. Original Souvals exist with both round and angular form RS letters but so do fakes. The LDO mark itself doesn't necessarily mean its wrong, but even though this one has the correct wartime style pin fittings, the sloppy quality combined with the L/58 suggests to me that this might be a postwar piece assembled from original wartime parts before Souval went over to using their distinctive postwar style retaining clip.
Weseruebung Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Hallo, the RS badge looks ok, but the L/58 is a sign of a postwar production. This pieces were sold at military fairs in the 70 for the first time and i assume they all were produced in the 70 ies.Chris
