Gordon Williamson Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 As Roger Bender has informed me that my Iron CRoss book is virtually sold out and will shortly be out of print I have been looking around for fresh material to go into the reprint. Though you might like to see this rather nice Otto Schickle L/15 marked EK2.
Glenn R Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 That's the first time I've seen an L/15 marked EK2. Lovely bold stamp.
Bill Garvy Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 This is also my first time seeing such an example. I guess I shall have to add it to my "wants" list as well. Thank you for posting such a rare example for us to see. . .

Understandable - it is a quality piece of work.To what extent are you planning to 're-vamp' the book ..... a few additional pictures, or something more comprehensive?Marshall Edited July 10, 2005 by Biro
Gordon Williamson Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 I'll be going through the whole thing start to finish, changing whatever needs changed/removed, updating whatever I can and putting in as much fresh info and pics as possible. It will be Rogers decision however in setting the balance between what needs changed and what I'd like to change. The more change, the more expensive the re-vamp.To what extent are you planning to 're-vamp' the book ..... a few additional pictures, or something more comprehensive?Marshall←
George Stimson Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Bill Garvy,How do the die characteristics of this "L/15" EK 2 compare with those of your First Class examples?
Bill Garvy Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 (edited) Hello, George! Here's my L/15 in 1st Class for comparison. . . I wish I could do a side by side visual comparison, but I am restricted by the 60kb maximum. Oh, I could post both crosses side by side, but I am afraid they would be too small to draw any meaningful comparison of their die characteristics. Regardless, to my untrained eye they appear quite simliar, from the rim characteristics to the core. What do you gentlemen think? Edited July 12, 2005 by Bill Garvy
George Stimson Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 I agree that the core looks very similar, especially the "3" in "1939." Alas, I have no Schickle EKs -- either First or Second Class -- to compare!
Bill Garvy Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 (edited) That 2nd Class L/15 is indeed quite rare; it looks as though the core might rattle a bit. Regardless, this one goes on my 2nd Class "wanted" list. . . Edited July 12, 2005 by Bill Garvy
George Stimson Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Here's Schickle's EK 2, as presented in their catalog.
