Guest Rick Research
Another one-- but with soft gold finish. So that difference in matte finish versus Staybrite is obviously NOT an accurate indicator of age (a theory of mine shot down in flames, agh)-- these BOTH being from... 1986... but suggesting different contracts/countries of manufacturing origin?Perhaps Foreign Comrade versions? This Soviet Border Guards (advisor?) general has mounted his RAF 1986 ribbon upside down. Guest Rick Research
As we have seen in the thread on the 20th Anniversary (1976) Medal, THAT one required 15 years plus of active duty in or before 1976. But obviously the regulations were changed for the 30th Anniversary Medal in 1986-- as evidenced by the Soviet recipient above.Today, thanks Greg the award document for one has turned up to a former female 1950s insurgency veteran (see thread on document groups):Her name has been obscured for protection of all those resident on the Island Paradise:This suggests that the 1986 (and 1996? and 2006?) Anniversary Medals were bestowed on a much wider range of recipients than the 1976 Medal.Isn't it amazing how little we still KNOW and can VERIFY?
