Ed_Haynes Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 We can't wait! What a nice group! But he does look like a grumpy old man.
zook Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Very nice! - looking forward to more....tougher to find groups like these!
NavyFCO Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Glad to see it got a good home! I originally purchased it from a seller in Latvia who bought it from a flea market vendor who bought it from the family. Kinda convoluted, but I think that's about as "close" as you can get sometimes being the westerner buying the group on this side of the pond! It's a really smashing group, please do scan and post the rest of it as it's about as complete as they come. Dave
Riley1965 Posted February 19, 2007 Author Posted February 19, 2007 I'll scan and post tomorrow. I'm feeling ill right now from my meds. Query, He is wearing Major shoulderboards? Doc

NavyFCO Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Would the rank star be gold or silver? DocGold. If you'd want to reproduce his uniform jacket as it is in the photo, it would not only make a nice display, but one like that should be cheap enough to acquire.Dave
Riley1965 Posted February 19, 2007 Author Posted February 19, 2007 Thanks, Dave!! I'll look into finding one. I just happen to have a set of Lt. Colonel's Shoulderboards. Many more documents to scan and post today. Doc
Guest Rick Research Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 That's the first ARC I've seen with FULL dates of birth and joining the Red Army filled in! TERRIFIC group! Let us know if you need any of that translated. If you crop off all the blank lines from his service records and enlarge the actual entries there, that would make that one easier to read.
