Chris Boonzaier Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 So far I have nothing to contribute.. but I am hoping some of you guys do...Can someone post some, iff possible the kind with , and the kinds without backing?ThanksChris
Deruelle Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Hi Please find one paar Bavarian officer shoulderboardRegardsChristophe
Chip Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Chris,I'm afraid that the only legitimate officer's boards that you will find without some sort of backing are those of Hussar officers. All others, I believe, are just missing the backing.Chip
Chip Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Yes, and incomplete they are. How are such boards attached to the tunic? I think you can see why backing was needed. Your 10.b.IR pair look like they are clean in the middle of the backside, where the backing protected the cords for some time.Chip
Guest Rick Research Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Two pairs from Ritter von Staubwasser--"brown" subdued style--
Guest Rick Research Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 close up of the gossamer silver threads that must once have given off Minimal Twinkle when new:and dark gray style, with blackened devices:
Guest Rick Research Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 close up of that style:Even on these dull, drab "yarn-ies," the effect when new (up VERY close) must have been like morning dew on spiders' webs, since there IS still bullion thread even in these subdued versions.
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Hi Chip, were all those singles, or also in pairs?
Chip Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Chris, All are singles with the exception of the 1.b.Telegraphen Batl., 1.b.IR Oberstlt. and the Assistenzarzt, which are from pairs. Chip
dedehansen Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Captain and Major from Feldartillerie Regiment 9 Otto Ritter von Pracher served at the staff from this unit Regards Andreas
Guest Rick Research Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 (edited) God, apparently there ARE still things I never posted before! Hauptmann iG (bedraggled) next to 3rd Reich Feuerwehr for what the color once was Leutnant Jäger Bn 4 (i.e. Ski Bn in Jäger Rgt 3/ Alpenkorps) Leutnant (der Reserve, certainly) Fußart Bataillon 10: Edited August 9, 2013 by Rick Research
Chip Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Rick, I'm not so sure about your ID on the Bavarian Jäger. I'm fairly certain that all officer's of Jäger Rgt. Nr.3 wore a number "3" on their boards, regardless of the battalion. The enlisted men certain did. Chip
