    Captain retd. R. E. Jeffreys D.S.C.

    Recommended Posts

I know he received the Dutch Commander grade of the Order of Oranje Nassau, London Gazette, March 4th 1947. But I know him with the first name Edward.

I see him in the London Gazette of Octopber 4th 1940 with "Mentioned in Despatches" as retired Royal Navy, also as Edward.

Thanks all, I have his document for the Commander Dutch Order of Oranje Nassau with swords in my collection. His name is spelled Robin Edmund in this document.

I think this will have been misspelled. This for the London Gazettes where they all state Edward

FreeBMD gives him as Robin Edmund, so unless the Registrar made an error, that should be the correct version.

I make the medals to be:

DSM, 1914-15 Star, BWM, Victory, 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star??, Defence Medal, War Medal with mid device, 1937 Coronation, then one foreign decoration.

    Thanks Michael,

I think it is the DSC, see this thread:

    http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...hlight=Jeffreys

Quite right - typing too fast. The last ribbon looks to have some sort of devices on it. I doubt he'd be wearing an Italian decoration just after the war, and it might be too early for the Dutch award, although the ribbon looks close to that .
