Lately I have started t get interested in award docs.

U-Boot Badge award doc. for crewmember U - 527 .

Very nice Jan Arne ! A large proportion of U-Boat men in the first half of the war served their time on Minesweepers before transferring to U-Boats. I have had several U-Boat doc sets where I know the guy served on Minesweepers first but although all the other docs were there the MS doc was missing. Nice to see the pair to the same guy !

This group also contains some Feldpost letter to his wife after U-527 was sunk .

Some of his properties was sent back to the Wife , incl. 2 U-Boot Badges and 2 Minesweeper Badges +++ .

And a Letter with what was left after Him .

I post this because a lot of Scandinavian " Experts " claims that most of the U-Boat Awards are in the bottom of the Ocaen .

But this shows that he at last had 2 U-Boat Badges , perhaps 3 if he had one on board .

The father of one of my friends served on U-Boats and was KIA. My friend inherited several of his badges, also caps uniforms etc. These servicemen did not just have one of each item but sometimes many. For each U-Boat badge lost when the sailor was KIA, there were probably at least one or two more left at home.
