Guest Rick Research
Got this cased medal with a pinback and sew-on ribbon bar today. Could not find it on Lukasz's Ribbons of The World website under Czechoslovakia... ???
Guest Rick Research
It says it is for service, so ? 10 years? 15 years?
Guest Rick Research
The sew on ribbon bar was tucked under the dark blue plush liner. How could I resist?
Gerd Becker
Nice! Any markings on the medal or the suspension?
Guest Rick Research
Not that I can see. It appears to be well silvered or mock-silvered. Only the best for the boys in SS.
Guest Rick Research
I am guessing that following the Soviet model: silver medal with two sets of stripes, this is a 15 years service medal?
Guest Rick Research
Bumped back up for Gordon. Anybody got another class?
Anatoly13
This is medal of Ministry, not the state award and just for service, not for years of service. There are few more medals of SS... ;)
Guest Rick Research
So... it is a government department award, not a national award? Who got it? For what?Cleaning ladies for work inside the headquarters building? It says "service" not "merit" so... what was it given FOR?
Anatoly13
For policemen. ( Ladies included )
Guest Rick Research
Ah! The normal civil police? But it does not count as an OFFICIAL State Award? Nice case and 2 ribbon bars fooled me.

Guest Rick Research
Same ribbon? How many years of service is that for? I can only read Czech words that are close enough to my old bad Russian....
Anatoly13
Yes,ribbon is the same.Dunno how many years but I think for many years - "Za dlouholetou praci" - "За долголетнюю работу".
Guest Rick Research
Maybe it was a secret-- even to the people who GOT one! Long long looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong years!
Guest Rick Research
And I just got one today:The ribbon is quite dirty, showing wear suggesting it was once swen onto some sort of narrow medal bar strip about as high as a pen. I've never seen any MOUNTED Czech Communist medal bars, so don't know if that was possible as a style.
bilylev
SNB (KGB) was the part of The Ministry of Internal Affairs. Another medal. For LONG service now. Hi, SNB is not KGB, its state police, the name of Czechoslovakia secret service was StB.

Greg Collins
I have two additional SNB medals that have neither been shown nor discussed here... an SNB Service Medal and a 30 Years SNB Medal. I have seen both turn up on other Warsaw Pact uniforms, most notably on uniforms of the DDR MfS (Stasi). First, the SNB Service Medal:
