Richard Gordon Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 and back. (I believe it has the screw plate)
Allan Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 Afternoon!Detlev has a buntmetal 1st pattern screwback listed in his book at $600.00.The prices are low compared with what items are actually selling for.I would think at about ?350.00 Rich, being a screwback. But, havene't seen one to make any comparison with. Are you buying or selling??????? Allan
Richard Gordon Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 AllanThanks. Possibly buying I need to find out more first, like if all the bits are there.Rich
Bob Hunter Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 (edited) Wtih something that special one can never pay too much just pay too early but regardless the price will catch up. Go get it and enjoy! Edited August 14, 2005 by Bob Hunter
Gordon Williamson Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 There are two very distinctive versions of the 1st Pattern 1st Class. One, believed by many includiing myself, to have been made by Juncker seems to have been only pinback, or at least I haven't seen a screwback ---yet. The other, like the one posted here, is "flatter" in profile and usually comes with a two piece screwback fitting ( washer and locknut). This is the lesser desirable pattern, but to some , more desireable in being screwback so I'd say Allan has just about hit it on the button at ?350 with both parts of the fitting (dealer price). The last one of these I bought I paid $150 for.
Richard Gordon Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 Thanks for the feedback!Gordon, yes I think I know the one you're referring to... it has a more rounded head and can be found without the scalloped sides?Rich
Biro Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 RichThe top centre and 2nd class on the right are the 'Junckers' that Gordon is referring too - in this case and as is normal, unmarked - but I'm in complete agreement with Gordon about them being Juncker due to some L/12 m/marked standard (non-scalloped) pattern pieces that exist sharing identical characteristics (with the exception of the scalloped bar). The 2nd class on the left is the little brother to the one you are looking at.How I would love to complete the set with a nice screwback 1st class version of this type!Marshall
Biro Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 This beautiful example of Pascals is how yours should look - with a screw nut holding the plate to the back.Marshall
Bob Hunter Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Marshall, those are magnificent pieces! I have a really small version on a ribbon bar that I will post. So small it is hard to detect the curve on the ends.
joe campbell Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 gentlemen-after a rather rough start in TR heraldry, i havebecome a lover of things imperial.i must tell you, however, what a pleasure it is tosee these wonderful TR period pieces! they certainlydo have a direct tie to imperial times, both in thereipient's actions in the great war and in the manufacturingwhich has not become overwhelmed by AH's endlessedicts.thanks for a magnificent display!joe
Guest Darrell Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Like Marshall has eluded to ... these screwbacks should be three piece. Alas .. mine is missing the big flat washer on the back Anyone know the combination to Pascal's safe
