    I tried to make the picture a little bit bigger...I wasn?t allowed to have bigger pic. than 60kb. A new member thing!

    But I try to take some new photos!

    sorry i couldn't help.

    the square button case is the same style of

    case that the "russian horde" crosses came in.

    apparently they are not unique to the "26" cross

    of BH Mayer.

    A treasure trove of Iron Crosses was located in an abandoned bunker in Russia. I am not sure exactly when they were located, but I would guess in the last twenty or so years. These Iron Crosses were all cased and boxed. Many of them were not damaged, although some were water damaged. Those that were not damaged were in pristine condition, and, as I understand things, were maker marked "26" for the firm of B.H. Meyer. These crosses were released to the market, and a great many collectors initially doubted their authenticity due to their pristine condition. They have since been accepted as authentic. Initially they were quite attractively priced, but presently are being sold for $500+, assuming you can find one. . . Edited by Bill Garvy

    Yep ... I have a "100" near mint cased EK1 and a mint "100" EK2 as well. Nice to have a matching pair, and in good condition as well beer.gif

    P.S. I got a mint "26" horde Cased EK1 off a fellow member a few months back ... thats why I asked above. They looked the same from a distance. smile.gif

    i believe it was herr weitze who discovered these in russia

    some time after the Berlin wall came down. i've seen them

    at $700 + on occasion....
