Missions UN / OSCE (max. 1 ribbon of each).The level can only be taken but high reached of each class of ribbonThe new ribbons worn on the "A" dress were prededed by something totally new in the Swiss army which could be nicknamed "days of service ribbon". In the swiss army the majority of the people involved are non professionnal ("milice"). The young swiss has to spend a certain number of days in the army.The total for a private (and for the private first class and the lance corporal) is 260 days of service. For a sergeant, it is 400 days; a master sergeant 430 days and for quartermaster sergeant/senior sergeant major 500 days. It has been decided that the experience gained during all these days of service will be indicated in the way of a special ribbon worn on the "A" dress before all other ribbons. j-sk Posted July 7, 2013 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Regarding the seven medals shown above (Minurso, Swisscoy, Peace Support, etc.) ONLY the ribbon is authorized for wear on the uniform. I.e.: NOT the shiny thingy hanging from a ribbon called medal !!! Although officially attributed, the medal must stay in its box... or framed and displayed on the chimney next to grandfather's General Guisan's portrait... or wherever it may seem fit... but, weird as it may be, NOT on the uniform... at least for the time being...!
