Antonio Prieto Posted October 2, 2023 Author Posted October 2, 2023 Мedal for participation in humanitarian or peace operations outside the territory of the Republic of Macedonia On August 18, the President of тthe Republic of Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, for the first time awarded the medal for participation in humanitarian or peace operations outside the territory of the Republic of Macedonia to 13 people from the Republic of Macedonia as a sign of public recognition and respect for the first peacekeepers from the Army of the Republic of Macedonia who were sent to the peace operations outside the territory of the Republic of Macedonia, and who contributed with their sacrifice, professionalism, discipline and dedication to the assigned tasks, also affirming our homeland on the international level. The medal for participation in humanitarian or peace operations outside the territory of the Republic of Macedonia, together with the Medal of Honor and the Medal of Eternal Sun, were introduced by supplementing the law on decorations and recognitions of the Republic of Macedonia in 2012. Soon followed by three design contests, but none were selected. Only on 28.7.2023, the president made a decision regulating the appearance of the Medal for participation in humanitarian or peace operations outside the territory of the Republic of Macedonia. According to the author of the art-graphic proposal, from the 2014 competition, Kosta Stamatovski: “The medal features a stylized 16-pointed star with strongly rounded tips on which there is a shade of light, a globe and an olive branch is represented. The ribbon and ribbon of the medal are complementary to the ribbons and ribbons of medals and decorations, and are distinguished by the insertion of the color blue.’ The medal for participation in humanitarian or peacekeeping operations outside the territory of the Republic of Macedonia, on which the name of the operation and the number of participants are presented, are awarded to: The Rescue Forces of the Republic of Macedonia, as well as to the victims of the Republic of Macedonia employed in humanitarian or peacekeeping activities operations outside the territory of the Republic of Macedonia.
