Guest Rick Research Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Is this S.A. ? Or ... ?All I've got is this camera shot from a friend even more in the boonies than I am. Not concerned with originality as yet-- will get this scanned, front and back, when we next meet, as far as THOSE questions go...just wondering what the heck it IS, and if this was something worn for a short time period, or by Very Strange "for special purposes" Westphalian battalions indeed?
laurens Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 (edited) Hi Rick,Yes, that's what it said. zur besondere Verwendung. It's SA, and 100% authentic.Larger SA units had such a Sturmbann zur besondere Verwendung (special purposes) The were also F?hrer zur besondere Verwendung, mostly people without an active role in the SA, but with a SA rank.Best,Laurens Edited July 22, 2007 by laurens
Guest Rick Research Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Thanks! Would this be for RESERVE types, like when the Stahlhelm was enrolled in the S.A. Reserve II? What would the "special" purposes have been? I will make nice Epson scans when I can.
Gerd Becker Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 What would the "special" purposes have been?Well, if you know a little bit about the SA and consider the color of the cufftitle... Interesting piece. First time, i have seen one like it.
Naxos Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Well, if you know a little bit about the SA and consider the color of the cufftitle... Now, that was funny Hardy
Guest Rick Research Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Ooooooooo! So it's pre- July 1934, then? You're BAD.
Paul R Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Does that mean that I am no longer the evil Paul? Have I finally shed that title?
Naxos Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Does that mean that I am no longer the evil Paul? Have I finally shed that title? Who said you are evil, Paul - you are one of the nicest guys I virtually know.Hardy
Guest Rick Research Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 It's true. He is the Evil PAUL. Here it is, front and back scanned from a very nice visit today.I don't have a good COLOR reference, but from this cranberry/white combination, can the Standarte be determined?
Guest Rick Research Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 And a super close up since I am the Good Ricky with the Magic Epson.
