Somesort of "Wach" with Guard Number 176 of XVI Army Corps.

These guys are still in police uniforms (with army spike helmet covers) in March 1915:

They wear gorgets with lionhead bosses (no Prussian eagles) but the same large "badge number" with I. Army Corps, as members of the early war Feldgendarmerie:

So each police officer had his own number of his Gorget? I've never seen one of these.

Yup. Literally ONE of a kind.

The full color police uniforms were not given up until the fall of 1916. I'm thinking that these Bavarians must be Landesgendarmerie, because the Feldgendarmerie had Swedish cuffs with Litzen, not plain Polish cuffs like these men. Very cool photgraph.

Ahhhhh, I. B. A.K.! Oddly enough, the one guy with a Bavarian MVK3XmKr never registered with me for that, because I'm so used to the IB/##, 2 B/##, 3 B/## on Landsturm collars that I just figured, eh, one Iron Cross, one Bavarian award.
