EK 1914 Another CD800 EK1

Just received this cross . I have compared it to the cross recently posted in theis thread:

and it looks ok to me although the MM is in a different place. Shame about the paint work, looks like someone has either tried to touch it up or clean it?Is there anything that can be done or is it best left as is?

An unusually marked example - but very nice!

That's the second style of CD 800 marking on a pin from this maker I've seen now.

I'd say the paintwork was ruined when the cross was silver dipped, cleaned and polished.

Never before have I seen the mark on the pin from this maker so something new for me today!

Yes, shame about the core but I think there's nothing much you can do for it now except make sure it stays rust-free.
