Bill Garvy Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Received this interesting photograph from my friend Robert Dais Sutton. It appears to be a Red Army Officer wearing an Order of the Red Banner, as well as another award I do not recognize. What else can any of you more experienced Soviet collectors tell me from what is evident on this photograph. . .
Bill Garvy Posted September 29, 2007 Author Posted September 29, 2007 What is written on the reverse of the photograph?
Ed_Haynes Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 The medals are the Order of the Red Banner and the Victory over Germany medal. Reading the reverse will help a lot and I really wish I could assist on that.

Guest Rick Research Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 From his age, that is almost certainly a long service Red Banner awarded in the first mass bestowal of 3 November 1944 for 20 to 24 years service. He did not have 25 years of military service in yet by the time this photo was taken. So we can tell what DAY he got his decoration.
Bill Garvy Posted September 29, 2007 Author Posted September 29, 2007 Thank you Rick and Ferdinand for your time and expertise. . .
