Ulsterman Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 This is a great little photo. Taken in 1943. Notice the badge.
Guest Rick Research Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Now THAT was an extremely well decorated WW1 army airship lieutenant-- any name on the photo?
Guest Brian von Etzel Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Very nice photo. Rare to see this in wear.
Panzer57 Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Thought I would throw in a close-up photo of the badge!Zeppelin air ships were a large part of the German attempt to control the air war in WW1. They were used to bomb London and HMAS Sydney was attacked by one. This is the Pilot's badge for a Zeppelin crew. JD
Paul R Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 (edited) Four First class crosses on his tunic!! I would love to see his ribbon bar!! Edited September 18, 2005 by Paul Reck
Stogieman Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Nice photo! But only 3 of the pin-backs are WW1. The upper left looks like your usual '39 KVK2wX. Others are:Prussian 1914 EK1Oldenburg FAK1Mecklenburg FFK1Ribbon Bar looks like a 5X bar to me with Czech Anschlu? Medal in last place. Rare to find any photo of a Zep badge in wear!!!
Stogieman Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I have to confess..... the title made me think I would be seeing 99 of these!
