    Another great addition

Well guys...sometimes it just happens this way. I'd always wanted a left facing Heer buckle and I actually got myself a pretty rare 40mm left facing example before landing this regular size 45mm puppy.

That being said - these are also pretty hard to find - though not as hard as the 40mm type. This one is made by Gr??e from Essen.

2 piece type with a very different looking eagle (looks pissed off!) and a fat swastika to boot.

Here are a few pics for you guys!

    Cheers!

Thanks Stu...I'm happy that you like it! Paul man: these buckles were only made for about three months in 1936 - from January to March. At this point - no one is exactly sure why the eagle was made to "look the other way". Many collectors - and I guess I'm one of them, think that it was done this way in order for these eagles to match the eagles found on many armbands and helmet decals (facing the same way).

In any case....this didn't last. The buckle companies reverted back to making their buckles with the eagle look to his left instead of his right after 03/36. Hope this info helps.

Oh - another theory is that this was an attempt to get the eagle to look in the same direction as pre TR buckles (Weimar). But no one knows for sure. What is known is that there are very few buckles like this given the short period these were manufactured!

Hope that helps a little! Cheers!
