order_of_victory Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 (edited) Here is one of the nicest Eastern Block Docs I have seen Here is the front of the document Edited December 10, 2007 by order_of_victory
order_of_victory Posted December 10, 2007 Author Posted December 10, 2007 Inside, signed by Tito - the seller said this was an orginal signature but I cant say any more than that Order of Victory
Bryan Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 It would be interesting if a native speaker could translate this document. If it's the real thing, it looks to be a quite impressive document!
Guest Rick Research Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 It is in Croatian. As ever, grammar rusty, but here goes--Supreme Commander of the Armed Forcesof the Socialist Federative Republicof YugoslaviaTo ColonelZaklan SpasuIn recognition and gratitude for pre-vious revolutionary labor and (success?) (?man-aging/maintaining?) the unity of the YugoslavianPeople's ArmyMarshal of Yugoslavia(signature)Is there a DATE somewhere?

To be precise, in the days when there was Federal Yugoslavia and all of the states were in federation, language was called Serbo-Croatian.Also, the exact translation would be:Supreme Commander of the Armed Forcesof the Socialist Federative Republicof YugoslaviaTo ColonelZaklan SpasuIn recognition and gratitude for devoted revolutionary labor and successfull leadership of the units of the YugoslavianPeople's ArmyMarshal of Yugoslavia(signature)TITO Edited December 11, 2007 by SasaYU
Bryan Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Indeed very nice document and badge! I wonder why the document from order_of_victory doesn't have any date.
order_of_victory Posted December 12, 2007 Author Posted December 12, 2007 Thanks Anatoly for the additional info and thanks to Rick and SasaYU for the transalations The seller of this itm said it dated from the 1970's, its intresting that mine does not have a date and has a metal star on the front Order of Victory
Anatoly13 Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Metal star is on the face sheet of a folder from the document. The box has the drawn star on my picture.

Luka Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Inside, signed by Tito - the seller said this was an orginal signature but I cant say any more than that That is not original signature.
SasaYU Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 It is Tito' signature, but is it original or inprinted is hard to say.
Anatoly13 Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 This is Tito's signature of course! The signature is made by a ball pen. As I did not see, how he signed I can not be sure about originality. But it is very similar!
Luka Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Well, it is very hard to imagine that tito has signed thousands of those and other documents in person...
Luka Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 (edited) Realy? Edited December 27, 2007 by Luka
order_of_victory Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 What the seller said to me when I bought mine was that Tito always signed is own name in Black Marker pen, now I dont know weather he was saying that to justify the signature on the item or not But its not unusual for leaders to sign there own names on Comendations Stalin did it for while Order of Victory
SasaYU Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Of course.I wonder if Luka can explain to us why he thinks that signature is not original.
Luka Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 (edited) I wonder if Luka can explain to us why he thinks that signature is not original.Of course I can...as I said before...It is senseless that he was signing(in person) so many documents(which are counted up to thousands and more...). The signature on the subject document is called facsimile.Only the documents of more importance(for an higher rated officers-just an example) where signed in person. Edited December 29, 2007 by Luka

Luka Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 (edited) I was referring to document of order_of_victory!There is also little chance that Anatoly's document is personaly signed...but all this is not very importante because these documents are not rare and dont have any special value...
