Are there any other commanders listed for the brigade command or the regimental commands? I'd like to find more on this as I have found something belonging to an artillery colonel of the FAR111.

For the brigade/Arko, the only name listed in the Stellenbesetzung is "Oberst Reuss"; no first name and no dates.

FAR 111 was a wartime unit so it's not in the Stellenbesetzung. I think FAR 111 was Grand Ducal Hessian, so there might be information in "Die Hessen im Weltkrieg", but I don't have a copy of that book.

Without a regimental history-- assuming there ever was one-- the only way to find a wartime regiment would be to go through the army Honor Rank List and hope to find somebody listed as CO of FAR 111. the problem with the army (as opposed to the detailed navy version) Honor Rank List is that no command DATES are listed. Somebody could have been CO for 3 years and transferred on 10 November 1918 and it would show THAT unit. Or there could be 3 officers whose last field command was that, so they would ALL say that they were the CO-- with nothing to indicate dates.

    So what have you GOT?

I was never able to get a copy loaned to me via local library.

    Does anyone have access?

    Charles,

the Berlin State Library reports having a copy. I am visiting there at the beginning of next month and will check it for the regimental commanders and any photographs.

    Charles,

as promised, I pulled the FAR 111 regimental history at the Berlin State Library; There were only two commanders of the regiment:

Major/Oberstleutnant August Richard Moeller (FAR 61) from formation until 28 November 1917 when he became ARKO 64 and

    Major Reinhold Kersten (FAR 3)

I have attached a photograph of both although the quality is not great. August Moeller finished as an Oberst so in all likelihood, he is your man.

Thats terrific information. That you and I appreciate the photos as well.

What's the neck order? Looks similar to a or Schwarzburg house order.

    Charles,

    What's the neck order?

Most probably the Saxon Ernestine House Order 2nd Class with Swords he was awarded on 2 November 1915.

    Glenn
