Any suggestions on manufacturer of this one ?

The core, which is very loose, is very similar to others I have but the frame differs. The scans don't do it justice, the core details are very crisp and sharp.

i would think Wagner und Sohn based on

this style of core.

I agree with Joe. Core details match scans I have of a Wagner marked cross.

There's not a whole heap of alternatives to Wagner and Godet as 'manufacturers'... (and I've yet to see a core that can be definitively associated with Godet as the manufacturer.. they have used at least two, possibly three) but this core definitely has all the characteristics we associate with Wagner .

The frame is the teaser - it dosen't seem to have quite the usual degree of curvature in the arms we are used to seeing. I wonder if the very loose fitting core and slightly unorthodox frame is an indication that this piece was assembled later than the issue pieces we are used to seeing?

Either way, a nice worn example.

Yup, Wagner was what I thought. The core certainly matches two that I have which I believe to be from Wagner (although the frames are both different - one with and one without the small projecting "nub"- they do both have the kind of curvature referred to by Marshall that you'd expect on an 1870). It was the frame that threw me a bit.
