Mike Dwyer Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Wow, I've always liked the Order of St. Olav, but I really like that Order of Merit!!
David M Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Are ther any books to be recommended on scandinavian orders in general where I could find awarddates in (especially sweden and norway?)
ilja559 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 David,I have this book. In the Swedish language and there are not enough photos.
ilja559 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Was on sale this book, but the price was very high.
ilja559 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Books about Scandinavian awards are difficult for finding. I came into bookshops of Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen and have found nothing.
Carol I Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Are ther any books to be recommended on scandinavian orders in general where I could find awarddates in (especially sweden and norway?)For the Swedish Order of the Seraphim, there is a very good book by Per Nordenvall (Kungliga Serafimerorden 1748-1998). It is in Swedish, but it has the dates of all awards from the establishment until 1998 and all the available images of the coat-of-arms of the awardees.
MSgt_mode Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Way Cool Site, thanks for sharing that little tidbit!!

Carol I Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Does it give foreign dates and Coats of arms aswell? What do you mean by "foreign dates"?
David M Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 What do you mean by "foreign dates"?I amsorry, not quite clear: dates of awards to members of foreign states (i.e. not-Swedish such as to Graf Perponcher-Sedlnitzky)
Carol I Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 I amsorry, not quite clear: dates of awards to members of foreign states (i.e. not-Swedish such as to Graf Perponcher-Sedlnitzky)I see, David. As I said before, the book lists all the recipients, Swedish and foreign. I remember that there were only a handful for which the armorial plates were not available either because they were lost or never painted. However, I do not have the book myself to check the details of Graf Perponcher-Sedlnitzky, but if he had received the order, the date of award must be written in the book.
