Guest Rick Research
Hard to say-- might be one at the left flank of this 11./LIR 119 shooting steps trench section, under the bend of the trench periscope in the background.?[attachmentid=10791]

Guest Rick Research
Photo was taken before 17 August 1915 (mailed) in 7. landwehr Division sector (Cernay to Altkirch in Alsace). Can't be sure even on the original if it is made out of sheets of metal-- NOT apparently one plate. Wood wouyldn't make much sense, since the peeking slit wouldn't do much good with a board for cover! The item which appears to be a wine bottle with "neck" is actually a "pineapple" grenade of some sort, and the play of light is some sort of paper (?) covering the wuzzit.Maybe it IS wooden, and just to obscure anyone standing there rather than real protection.
