Luftwaffe LW Secret Police Collar Tab

In today, a 16 dollar Luftwaffe Secret Police collar tab for a Feldpolizeisekertar arrived!

This tab as also used by the Post 02Nov1940 Air Traffic Control Officials(Meister) and by the LW Firefighting Officials(Brandmeister).

These three branches were the only ones to have Officers in the "Medium Career Grade".

Very internsting! What I have noticed is the triangular 'pip' (?) Is this what designates it for police functions? Its interesting as the post war Hungarian police used the same symbol.

I did not know that the Hungarians used a similar system!

Well, as you can see, the outter piping on the collar tab is broken green and silver colored cord. This places the wearer in the "Medium Grade Career" level. Most officer rankings were in the "Elevated Career Level"(silver piping cord) or "High Grade Career" (gold piping cord... rare at this level as well). The only possible careers for the wearer of this tab is:

1. Luftwaffe Secret Police

2. Luftwaffe Air Traffic Control Official(after 02Nov1940)

3. Luftwaffe Firefighting Official

These are all very rare job descriptions to find insignia and uniforms for.

The triangular "pip" is what designates an "Official", as opposed to the "gull" for Luftwaffe personel.
