Ed_Haynes Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 The 10 Jan 2008 sale produced some interesting Mongolian results:2246 $3,2502247 $2,0002248 $2802249 $3502250 $4,2502251 -2252 -2253 $4002254 -2255 -2256 -2257 -2258 -2259 -2260 -2261 -2262 $752263 -2264 -2265 -2266 -2267 $402268 -2269 -2270 $4502271 $4252272 $5002362 -2363 -2364 $1502365 -2366 - Almost makes me wish I'd bid!The Tuvan pieces, however (honorary Mongolians?) went high, $35,000 (2200) and $37,500 (2201).

Ed_Haynes Posted January 17, 2008 Author Posted January 17, 2008 Ed,I believe this simply means that, at current price levels, Mongolian orders are overpriced.MarcQuite frankly, Marc, I would hope people agree with you. Mongolian awards are trash. STAY AWAY!!
Bob Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Ed,I believe this simply means that, at current price levels, Mongolian orders are overpriced.MarcMy conclusion is a different one - the highest end Mongolian items got good (even somewhat high) prices... the 2 SBs and the 4.250 Order of Labor Glory. As with Soviet items, prices for these will continue to rise I expect. It's been the "lower end" stuff which didn't sell probably for a number of reasons:- easier / quicker ways to get them than from this auction- available copies of these awards more than sufficient to satisfy demand
Bob Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Ed,I believe this simply means that, at current price levels, Mongolian orders are overpriced.MarcTake a look at Alexei's site - all top end items sold / on hold.
Lapa Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Take a look at Alexei's site - all top end items sold / on hold. Bob,In my reference to the auction results, I noticed that the "common stuff" did not sell. My remark was about that, not about the rare OMDs.Marc
Bob Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Ah yes, I see your point.Although there are more simple ways to obtain those "common" awards anyway - e.g. eBay rather than wait for an auction.
Bob Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Based on the published auction prices I know that I've won a few items in this auction but have not received any communication on this yet from the auctioneer. Anybody else here with a "win" at this auction? Did you get any info already confirming auction result, requesting total payment, etc.?Thanks
Ed_Haynes Posted February 5, 2008 Author Posted February 5, 2008 My sense is that he is being very VERY slow. Not overly surprised . . . .
Bob Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 My sense is that he is being very VERY slow. Not overly surprised . . . .well... slow also means slow in receiving $$$ so I'm not sure if that's what I would do
Ed_Haynes Posted February 5, 2008 Author Posted February 5, 2008 Agreed. With some dealers the basic rules of logic (like the basic rules of economics) seem to function differently.
