demir Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Hello,I am a new member. I am honoured to be in this group. Please see attached medal. Is this a privately made medal made for a doctor or a teacher during the Gallipoli war. Please also check my TWM album and comment on the pictures their made etc.I think the real Gallipoli medals are the painted ones. Rest is German made for those who deserved and paid for it.There is no difference between officer or private medals. They are all same, the painted ones. The then OttomanGovernment was only be able to finance the war. How would they supply the fighters with enamel or silver medals.Best wishesDemir

TerryG Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Very nice. I see there is no date on the white star as opposed to the usual Canakale star which has the date in old Turkish.

Alex K Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Hi demir, welcome, very interesting piece, looking at the back, the pin attachment method looks similar to german methods of the period. I must admit, I've not seen one beforeregardsAlex
