EK 1914 EK 2 - just in

Hello,

Here is one of the mass awards from WWI, a nice EK 2. This one is obtained directly from the son of the former winner. Nothing special about it. It came togheter on a long piece of ribbon togheter with a unmarked Hindenburg cross.

The cross has a makers mark on the ring however.

Guess these 2 small awards are just a remembrance of the cruelty these front troops whent trough.

Iff so is this then once produced by the company of Friedlander?

FR and Fr are, i think, both accepted

MM's for friedlander.

any chance to find out the specifics

of the recipients' involvement in WW1 was?

Just a rumour because of the letters Fr....to the day there's no confirmed link to Frank&Reif

Yes, just by looking at that list, which in my mind is just a guideline, the Frank and Reif seems to be a way of fitting a name to mark. This has been one of the more contensious matchings of a name to a maker mark.

Yes, yes, the former owner will be shown real soon => he did see action in Flanders at the end of 1917 / beginning 1918.

I have always thought that "FR" and "Fr" were two different makers.

I was always under the impression that "FR" was for Frank and Reif and "Fr" for Friedlander.... the mystery continues......
