Bob Hunter Posted September 24, 2005 Author Posted September 24, 2005 No, it's a short medal bar favored by Wurttemburgers...
Bob Hunter Posted September 24, 2005 Author Posted September 24, 2005 ...and the flip side. Does anyone know why this style was favored in Wurttemburg?
Paul R Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 I dont know Bob...But I do know that you have a very nice medal bar!Great find! Paul
byf Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 I do not know. I used to live there. They have a long warrior tradition. The big farm boys were important, the area was famous for large men in the army. They were issued pikes. Perhaps they just like things big.byf
J Temple-West Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 That police bar is very nice, Bob..Not political/civil bars, but here are a few more in the same style. These practical dual purpose bars are a favourite of mine. The parade is over?remove the medals and you have the normal ribbon bar.
Bob Hunter Posted September 25, 2005 Author Posted September 25, 2005 Thanks for the insight, John, they were a thrifty lot and the economy of the Weimar Republic era only sharpened that skill.
Stogieman Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Just wanted to pop this one back up as the bars posted by Bob & John represent a "non-traditional", but often encountered style. When you find one of these, they're a little odd looking, but in most cases, quite real! Nice stuff!!
