I think it's real.

I think it's rare because of the Anhalt piece in last place.

Happens to me at least a dozen times a day....

Yes, a very, very rare medal.... but one that doesn't draw a lot of collector demand except for the specialist. (at least on this side of the pond). Generally speaking, my experience is that US collectors tend to value this type of medal much lower than a combat bar.... Germany however will be a very different story and the final price for this bar will be quite high, I am sure!

Apparently there WAS a roll of these. In working through George Seymour's award rolls that I have inherited, he made notations of this Anhalt award with an award year, on other rolls. Whatever his Anhalt source was did NOT survive to get to me though. :(t

There was actually a little booklet published in 1994 giving a very good summary on this Arts and Science medal. It also lists all recipients:

Just to update ! this medal bar sold to a german collector for $1250.00 I guess thats not a bad price for it? guess it is pretty rare but I would rather have a nice combat related bar!

Sounds like a good price but I don't know how many there were of each type.

There are still many Imperial era awards that are insanely rare yet can still be picked up by anyone lucky enough to find them-- with the right reference sources.
