Some readers may be unfamiliar with the officer who signed the document, so I take the liberty to elaborate: Kptn.z.S. Friedrich Ruge, Knights Cross on 21.Oct.1940 as Kommodore and Fuehrer d.Minensuchboote West. (Commodore and commander of Minesweepers West just as the signature block indicates). Later V.Admiral in the K.M. and also in the "new" German navy. Had the title of Professor Dr. F.Ruge. His career was spent in the waters off Norway and France and in channel .Bernhard H.
