Gordon Williamson
Very nice piece. Bill, do you have an example of the S&L EK2 with the stamped "4" rather than incuse relief ? They have a slightly different core too. I've had a couple over the years but lost the images I had when my PC crashed.
Bill Garvy
Thank you, gentlemen, and no, Gordon, I do not have a stamped "4". All of the examples of this manufacturer I have seen, including those in our databank on the M.C.F., are like this example, that is, the maker mark is in incused relief. I'd really like to examine in greater detail an example of a stamped "4" of which you speak.
Marcus H
Just noticed this one. Bill I have no contentions with the packet, as to date, there are no identified fakes with this EK 2 packet designation as such. KrMarcus
Bill Garvy
Thanks, Marcus, that is certainly a relief, especially with the proliferation of all manner of reproduction envelopes of issue. . . Hey, that gives me an idea for a topic thread. . .

Marcus H
Hi Bill,I've fake verse genuine EK2 packet thread in mind too. I've been scanning a thing or two, I've got one on a deliberation and some past test results on the most 'famuos' (notorious) EK2 packet and then some examples of others, and with that sort of a compilation of the designations of the good larger style packets......only my provincial way of determination though. A sort of Marcus' rough guide if you can understand my diction and waffle KrMarcus
Bill Garvy
I read you loud and clear, Marcus, so let me know if you'd be interested in any additional high resolution scans of the envelopes in my collection.
