An often under-appreciated award, these shooting prizes were something many men wore with great pride. I have seen photo portraits redone when the soldat received his prize....... the portrait re-done from the opposite side so the prize could be seen! Here's a document for one to a soldier in the Alexander Garde Grenedier Regiment

This is one of the few pre-crash archives I still have and one of my earliest forays into the Imperial genre. I still love the group and don't remember ever seeing another document like this.

Anybody have a nice example of the Artillery Version???

I don't know. I'm a Meissen buff and when I saw this one I jumped for it. But, what wasn't military in those days? Of course it could have been very likely a Hunt Association piece.

I've had several "Unofficial" official pieces from Saxony. A blank medal of King Albert with usually something like "Besten Schutzen Preis", a date and unit designation hand-engraved on the reverse. I always found the military ones to be interesting, even the "unofficial stuff"

    Stogie,

Beautiful document and quite scarce. I once saw in a collection back East, the officer's version. The company commander was awarded a silver plaque in the shape of a shield, topped by a Kaiser crown with flags and trophy display. It was wonderfully inscribed to the individual. Exceedingly rare, as you can imagine. I think I have pictures somewhere of another one that sold on ebay a few years ago. As I recall, it brought thousands of dollars.

Officers commanding Kaiser Prize units received Kaiser Prize damascus swords from His Loftiness, inscribed and dated. My sword collecting friend Ted has several of those, but we have yet to get him up to speed here, because have to scan blade sections at my house.

    Rick,

Here is a picture of the marking on the back of my Junker made 1908 infantry award. Unfortunately,

most of the original silver wash finish is gone, leaving a surface that is somewhat hard to read through
