Motorhead Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Sometimes you need a little luck-this one is really an upgrade in my collection! Textbook Godet/Meybauer core, just a little rust at the date....a fine private purchased Ek! Micha
gregM Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Beautiful Godet screwback. I have yet to find one of these for myself.
Richard Gordon Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Fantastic piece! Is that remnants of frosting on the frame??Rich
Motorhead Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Rich,it looks like(on both Eks).So....I think these Eks are a bit younger as some of us thought! In my opinion we can date them into the late20ies,early 30ies. The pin is unique at '14 Eks,and this kind of frosting can also be found on the "Deumer" variations. The core is a typical example of Meybauer/Godet hardware and of high quality-so totally different to all the other Eks we have put into the same timeframe.Micha
gregM Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 If you study the inner corners of the frame, they have a unique pattern to them. They are an exact match to my own 1914 Godet Ek1 and to another 1914 Godetthat I was able to study. This does not of coarse show when these were made but it prooves IMO that theseare indeed Godet made crosses.
Motorhead Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 So,I've checked all my "suspects".....greg,you are right-a 100% match to all my Godets! Flat one,fangs....the frame is identical-no match to all my Meybauer frames! What ever that means....Micha
gregM Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Here is another Godet screwback. This one belongs to forum member Tony (Tiger 1).I can not tell from the picture if there is any evidence of it ever having been frosted.
