Is he an Austrian Navy Officer ?

There seems to be a Navy Hat on the table.

No, not navy. The Impreial Austiran Navy wore s pretty standard looking dark blue navy uniform. I don't know what he is.

Interesting photo. I am a long way from my reference material at the moment but he appears to be a regular officer of the KuK. The fancy braid on the cuffs was worn by some units. Hopefully I can do better when I get home next week.

The braid on the sleeve seems to indicate Honved .

The hat looks like a Pelzm?tze with the dual A-H Wappen.

Not a diplomat? I thought the second and third medals were Saxon and saxe-Weimar.

I was leaning towards Honved myself but there are other Infantry units besides the Hoved that had braid like that on their sleeves.

The hat is not of the type worn by Diplomats. They wore the Beamten type hat often referred to as the fore and aft hat. The Foreign medals are interesting.
